Get ready to discover math all around you this summer!
Just as you benefit from reading throughout the summer, it is important to engage in mathematical experiences. Research shows that students better maintain and strengthen their math skills through regular and meaningful practices. We have compiled some resources to support your transition from 5th to 6th grades.
It is not important how you practice, but that you come into sixth grade able to:
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers fluently - Reason about whether an answer makes sense (e.g. will 23 x 51 be more or less than 1000)?
Think about how you can practice these skills so that you come into sixth grade ready to go! This website offers some ideas.
